She stood barefoot in the meadow, the grass cool beneath her toes, arms stretched toward the heavens. The night was alive with light, stars glittering like diamonds tossed across velvet. She reached, and to her wonder, one slipped into her palm, glowing warm and gentle. She gasped, tucking it into her pocket as if it were a secret treasure. One by one, she caught them, tiny sparks of dreams falling into her grasp. Her laughter rang out, soft and bright, echoing under the endless sky. Tonight, she wasn’t just a girl: she was a keeper of stars, gathering wishes for tomorrow.

Naming Stars
As Lee and Phil lay on the blanket looking up at the stars Phil leaned over. “I’ve got something for you,” he whispered in Lee’s ear.
“You do?” she answered as he pulled a round tube-like package out from under his side of the blanket.
“Yes. It came to me last summer while we were watching the meteors. Go ahead and open it.”
Lee quickly opened the end and shook out the two sheets of paper. One was on a thicker velum like paper.
“You had a star named after me!”
Meteor showers were seen far and wide that night.
